This is your land. Montgomery County is located in the west central part of the state of Arkansas and is near the center of the Ouachita National Forest. It is upland, being on the eastern slope of the Ouachita Mountains. The Ouachita National Forest is the south's oldest and largest National Forest covering 1.6 million acres. The lakes, mountains, ridges, and streams are truely paradise for nature lovers. Montgomery County, named in honor of General Richard Montgomery, was organized under the provisions of an act of the General Assembly of the State of Arkansas on December 9, 1842. Montgomery County was formed from territory taken from Hot Springs County. |
